Connect

  1. Install Claude Code if needed.
  2. Download a compatible model in Magnitude.
  3. Open Connections → Claude Code and click Connect.
  4. Open or restart Claude Code and choose your Magnitude model.
Magnitude configures Claude Code’s gateway. Local model IDs use the anthropic-local/ prefix. Keep Magnitude running while connected, including for hosted models: hosted requests still go to their provider through the gateway. Disconnect and restart Claude Code before using it independently again.

Select a model from the terminal

To configure the connection and select a specific downloaded model, first find its exact ID:
Replace MODEL_ID with the ID from the first command, not the friendly display name. Restart the agent after changing its configuration.

Configuration

Default configuration files:
  • ~/.claude/settings.json
On Windows, ~ means your user profile directory. Supported location overrides: CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR. The paths displayed in Connections show which files Magnitude is actually checking.

Repair or disconnect

If Connections shows Connection needs repair, click Repair connection. To stop using the integration, click Disconnect, then restart the agent. Terminal equivalents:
