Choose your package

Visit Download Magnitude and choose: Choose Intel / AMD (x64) for an x86-64 processor or ARM64 for an ARM64 processor. If you need to check, run uname -m: x86_64 means x64; aarch64 means ARM64.

Requirements

Magnitude requires glibc 2.35 or later and a graphical desktop. Ubuntu 22.04 and Debian 12 meet the glibc requirement. An RPM download does not imply compatibility with every Red Hat release: RHEL 9’s glibc 2.34 is below this minimum. Your package manager installs required desktop libraries. GPU inference also needs a supported driver; see Hardware. Alpine/musl packages are not available.

Install

Open the downloaded package in your distribution’s software installer, or use the terminal. Replace the filename below with the file you downloaded.
Open Magnitude from your applications menu and follow Get started.

Background operation and updates

Closing the window keeps inference running. Enable Launch at login in Settings to start Magnitude when you sign in. This is desktop login startup, not a system service that starts before login. Some desktop environments don’t display a tray icon. Reopen Magnitude from your applications menu; use Quit Magnitude to stop it. App updates use your system package manager and may ask for authorization. Use Settings → Application updates for the available actions.

Uninstall

Remove Magnitude through your distribution’s software manager. Downloaded models and settings live in ~/.magnitude and are separate from the installed application package.
